New Punjab Inspector General (IG) Inam Ghani has taken charge of the post.

The government replaced Shoaib Dastgir with Inam Ghani as the Punjab Inspector General of Police, a few days after the former IGP refused to continue his duties over a widely reported feud with Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Umar Sheikh.

This is the sixth police chief appointed to the province in just two years.

A contingent of police saluted IG Punjab Inam Ghani at the CPO office.

Before taking charge, he also met Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar. The Chief Minister wished the new Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani all the best.

He said that Punjab Police should be made completely neutral and no pressure should be accepted for this. The Chief Minister Punjab directed IG Punjab to ensure merit and rule of law in all cases.
