ISPR: Awards presented to officers at GHQ Rawalpindi

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa while attending the Military Awards Ceremony at General Headquarters Rawalpindi on Sunday presented awards to the officers and men who showed courage in the line of duty.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Qamar Javed Bajwa was the chief guest of the ceremony. During the ceremony, 40 officers were awarded Sitara e Imtiaz while 24 officers were awarded Tamgha Basalat (Medal of Good Conduct).

Families of martyred and present service officers attended the ceremony. The medals of martyrs were received by their families. Earlier today (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the martyrs’ monument on account of Defence Day and laid a floral wreath.

The main ceremony of the Defence Day was held at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi to pay tributes to the martyrs.

Awards:

Awards of TAMGHA-I-IMTIAZ (MILITARY), SITARA-I-IMTIAZ (MILITARY), and TAMGHA-I-BASALAT were conferred on Army officers and soldiers.

TAMGHA-I-BASALAT:

1 Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and soldiers including 17 Shuhada were awarded Tamgha-i-Basalat.

SITARA-I-IMTIAZ (MILITARY):

68 officers were awarded SITARA-I-IMTIAZ (MILITARY).

TAMGHA-I-IMTIAZ (MILITARY):

111 officers were awarded TAMGHA-I-IMTIAZ (MILITARY) for rendering meritorious services to the nation.

Families of Shuhada received their awards posthumously.

Pakistan is celebrating Defence Day with a renewed promise to protect and safeguard the motherland’s geographical and ideological boundaries at every cost. Defence Day is marked to pay tributes to the martyrs and ghazis and reaffirms commitment to defend the motherland against all threats.
