Primary schools across the country reopen on Wednesday amid the strict implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) devised to curb the spread of novel coronavirus.

According to the details, the government on Tuesday allowed the primary schools to resume classes from September 30 (today) after reviewing the Covid-19 situation in the country.

The decision was taken unanimously in the meeting of the National Command and Operation Centre in Islamabad.

Briefing the media persons, Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mehmood along with Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health, Dr. Faisal Sultan said the decision has been taken in consultation with all the federating units including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

He said the decision has also been taken keeping in view the current situation regarding the Coronavirus pandemic which is under control.

He said that the decision to reopen primary schools was a difficult one, however, the government after consulting with provincial ministers decided to reopen the educational institutions.

Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood said all the provinces are on board in this regard. “The primary classes will start on Wednesday will SOPs,” he added. The Minister warned the schools’ management to strictly implement (SOPs) devised to curb the spread of the virus.

He said that any school found violating the health protocols will be sealed without any notice.

Shafqat Mahmood furthermore said that there will be no compromise over the health of children.
