The Government of Pakistan after the recommendations of the National Command Operation Centre (NCOC)  has announced to reopen primary schools across the country from September 30th with strict orders of implementing coronavirus health protocols.

According to the details, The Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood while addressing a press conference along with state health minister Dr Faisal Sultan said, the primary schools across the country will be reopened from tomorrow (September 30th.)

He said that the decision to reopen primary schools was a difficult one, however, the government after consulting with provincial ministers decided to reopen the educational institutions.

Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood said all the provinces are on board in this regard. “The primary classes will start on Wednesday will SOPs,” he added.

Zero Tolerance

The Minister warned the schools’ management to strictly implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) devised to curb the spread of the virus.

He said that any school found violating the health protocols will be sealed without any notice.

Shafqat Mahmood furthermore said that there will be no compromise over the health of children.

Earlier on September 15, universities and colleges and 9th and 10th-grade students had resumed on-campus learning, however, students of classes 6th, 7th and 8th returned to classrooms on September 22 after the six-month break.

Sindh had delayed the recommencement of middle classes by a week but allowed the schools to reopen after reviewing the pandemic situation.

Provincial Minister of Punjab for School Education also announced the reopening of primary schools on his twitter handle.

It should be noted that all primary and secondary schools across Sindh resumed classes from Monday (September 28)

The delay in Sindh was due to the increased number of coronavirus cases being reported from educational institutions.

Earlier in the week, Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani announced that all classes in the province will be reopened, however, the implementation of SOPs will be strictly monitored.
