Punjab CM Approves to make Orange Line train operational from Oct 25

The Punjab Chief Minister (Punjab CM) has given the approval to make the Orange Line train operational from October 25.

According to the details, The Punjab CM directed all the concerned departments to complete the operation arrangements.

The Punjab Cabinet also endorsed the decision of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

In a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Usman BUzdar yesterday, the proposal to fix the fare of the Orange Line train at Rs 50 was rejected.

To provide relief to the citizens of Lahore, the train fare was fixed at Rs. 40.

The project, which started in 2015, was to be completed at a cost of Rs 162 billion, but it took four years and Rs 300 billion for the train to get on track.

Earlier, the General Manager (GM) of the Punjab Mass Transit Authority had said that the training of the staff of the Orange Line project would be completed by October 1. This will be followed by the inauguration of the Orange Line train on October 25.

Last month, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Asim Saleem Bajwa had said that the Lahore Orange Line train would soon be opened to the public.

Briefing the Senate Standing Committee on China Pakistan Economic Corridor CPEC projects, Lt. General retired Asim Saleem Bajwa had said that the Orange Line project was not political at all.

Chairman China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Authority, Lt. General retired Asim Saleem Bajwa also announced over 250 new jobs of various categories for Lahore’s Orange Line Train project.

The Orange Line Metro train project in Lahore is likely to be open for the public in the last week of October this year.

Taking to his official twitter handle, Chairman China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Authority, Lt. General retired Asim Saleem Bajwa said

“250 new jobs of various categories for Orange Train Lahore by the operator. All applications can be sent to careers@olmrts.com.pk”
