Sindh government has agreed to appoint Dr. Iftikhar Shallwani for the post of Administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.

Sindh Govenrment’s spokesperson Murtaza Wahab issued a notification regarding Shallwani’s appointment on Saturday.

Mr. Shallwani is currently working as secretary Local Government & Housing Town Planning Department.

The grade 21 officer has served as the former commissioner of Karachi as well as additional secretary in the federal Ministry of Industries and Production.

Iftikhar Ali Shalwani had earlier been transferred as the new Secretary Local Government replacing Roshan Ali Sheikh who has been arrested by National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

According to the details, Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani had been removed from his charge and appointed as secretary to a new position.

A notification has been issued by Sindh government’s services, general administration and coordination department in this regard.

“Iftikhar Shallwani, an officer of PAS (BS-21), Commissioner Karachi Division is transferred and posted with immediate effect as Secretary Local Government & Housing Town Planning Department Government of Sindh,” reads the notification.

According to a notification, Sohail Rajput has been named new Karachi Commissioner.

The Sindh government also removed Sindh LG secretary Roshan Sheikh from the post following his arrest by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in land allotment case.

Roshan Ali Sheikh was arrested after the Sindh High Court on Monday rejected the bail pleas of Sindh LG secretary and nine others in an illegal land allotment case.
