AJK to reimpose lockdown amid second coronavirus wave

The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has decided to reimpose lockdown amid the second wave of coronavirus.

According to the details, the decision of reimposing the lockdown was taken during a meeting held on Sunday, headed by AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider, to review AJK’s situation regarding COVID-19.

PM Haider directed the concerned departments to devise a plan within two days to impose restrictions to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.

On the other hand, wearing face masks were made mandatory in public places and offices, during the meeting, as well as, to charge fins in case of non-compliance.

The AJK primer asked the officials to make sure the implementation of coronavirus SOPs mainly in public transport and educational institutions.

It is pertinent to mention here that 2,816 coronavirus cases were reported in the region with 75 deaths whereas, 2.395 patients defeated the deadly virus.

Earlier today, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan has requested the nation to follow precautionary measures against coronavirus.

“Compared to some other states, Allah has been kind to us in Pakistan and spared us the worst effects of Covid-19. There is a fear onset of winter could result in the 2nd wave. I urge everyone to wear face masks in public to avoid a spike. All offices and educational institutions must ensure masks are worn,” PM Khan wrote on his official Twitter handle.
