ECC Approves To Provide RLNG To Domestic & Commercial Consumers

ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC)of the Cabinet, chaired by Finance Advisor Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, approved the provision of Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) for winter needs of domestic and commercial consumers.

According to details, a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Finance Advisor Abdul Hafeez Sheikh in which a three-point agenda was considered.

The ECC approved SNGPL’s recovery of the past revenue shortfall and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL)’s provision of RLNG for the winter needs of domestic and commercial customers.

A three-member committee headed by the finance secretary was formed to discuss the price of wheat imported from Russia. 330,000 tonnes of wheat imported from Russia will be distributed equally to TCP, Punjab and KP.

The ECC also approved the supply of 8 MMCFD from Mangrio and 4 MMCFD of natural gas from Mithri Gas Field to Sui Southern while OGRA also issued licenses to new CNG stations on RLNG.

The establishment of new CNG stations was banned in 2007. New CNG stations should be licensed to run only on imported LNG.

Earlier this month, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) had approved the supply of gas for five export sectors, saying that from Saturday, October 20, on Saturday and Sunday, gas for the export sector would be reduced by 50 per cent and Rs 930 per MMBtu for the export sector by February.

Apart from local ovens, approval was also given to increase the price of gas for commercial consumers, while the rent of gas meters has been increased from Rs 20 to Rs 40.

According to the statement, it was decided to collect the old dues of Gas Infrastructure Development Cess, one-third of the dues of GIDC will be collected while approval was given to increase the power in fuel adjustment plant by 0.32 paisa per unit.
