Prime Minister Imran Khan has on Thursday received a signed cricket from Afghan cricket team during his visit to Kabul, according to the the Prime Minister’s office.

According to the details, Afghanistan National Cricket team presented a signed bat to Prime Minister Imran Khan. President Ashraf Ghani was also present.

Imran Khan, a cricketer-turned-politician, was the Pakistani captain who had led the country to victory during the 1992 World Cup.

While addressing a joint press conference with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, the premier said Pakistan will fully support to end violence and establish durable peace in Afghanistan.

He said Pakistan has played its role in getting started first the Talban’s talks with the Americans and then for intra-Afghan dialogue.

Imran Khan said the people of Afghanistan have suffered violence for four decades.

He said the erstwhile FATA region of Pakistan was also devastated by the war on terror and the livelihood of the tribesmen was badly affected.

The Prime Minister said the peoples on both sides of the border want peace, trade and connectivity.

He said this trade and connectivity between the two countries will increase in days to come.

Speaking on the occasion, the Afghan President said he had very productive engagement with Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He said a comprehensive political settlement for enduring peace within the framework of our values and our constitution is the future of Afghanistan.

He said violence is not the answer to any conflict.

Ashraf Ghani said we can move forward and a comprehensive ceasefire can be achieved.

On the other hand, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi held discussion with his Afghan counterpart Mohammad Hanif Atmar during his visit at Kabul alongside Prime Minister Imran Khan today.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Afghan Foreign Minister discussed bilateral cooperation, regional peace and security situation between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

In his remarks, FM Qureshi said Pakistan has always been supportive of the dialogue process for durable peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The transit trade and preferential trade agreements between Pakistan and Afghanistan will help promote the volume of trade and investment between the two countries, Qureshi added.

The Afghan FM Mohammad Hanif appreciated Pakistan’s sincere efforts for the Afghan peace process.
