Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Sunday expressed grief and heartfelt condolences on demise of Begum Shamim Akhtar who passed away earlier this morning.

Mother of former prime minister and current Supreme Leader of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Nawaz Sharif, Begum Shamim Akhtar passed away at 90 years old .

According to party sources, she was staying with her son at the Avenfield Apartments in London.

Begum Shamim Akhtar had been ill for the past week and her condition had been fragile due to her old age.
