COAS General Bajwa discusses regional security with Chinese envoy

Chinese Ambassador Nong Rong called on Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi today (Monday).

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), both discussed matters of mutual interest, including regional security during the meeting.

ISPR in its tweet said that the two noted “exceptional relations” between both countries and pledged to further improve the same. The visiting dignitary acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan’s contributions to conflict prevention in the region.

Army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa previously called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad to discuss the “internal and external security situation” in the wake of a new string of terrorist attacks in the country, particularly a bomb blast at a madrassa in Peshawar.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Prime Minister Imran Khan also spoke about “professional matters” pertaining to the army.

On the recent efforts to “stoke violence in the country”, the prime minister expressed the resolve that the entire nation was “united against the cowardly acts of the enemy”.
