Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has introduced the Flexible Attendance System for its employees to mark their attendance with biometric machines amid rising coronavirus cases.

The flexible attendance system is being implemented from Monday, November 23.

According to the orders of the Chief Human Resources, under the new system, PIA employees will be able to come to the office from 8:00 am to 9:30 am.

Attendance of those attending at 8 am will be at 4:30 pm while employees attending at 9:30 am will be able to go home at 6 pm.

Employees of the national airline will have to ensure 8 and a half hours daily attendance.

Earlier, Pakistan International Airlines(PIA) has decided to lay-off 3500 employees in order to lower their debts and curtail expenses.

According to reports, the voluntary separation scheme (VSS) has been introduced. Under this scheme, the terminated employees will get their dues in 2.5 years.

The air-service sought Rs12.87 billion from the federal government in this matter.

According to the PIA administration, this process will save Rs. 4.20 billion annually.

Additionally, the national flag carrier has announced Umrah policy for flights from Pakistan to Jeddah and Madinah. This will remain in force till 31st December 2020.
