A moderate intensity earthquake on Thursday jolted Swat and its adjoining areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

According to the details, the intensity of tremors recorded a 4.7 magnitude of the Richter scale.

Earlier in October, a magnitude 4.9 earthquake shook northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), including Peshawar and Swat.

The tremors were felt in the northern part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and citizens came out of their homes, offices, and shops reciting Quranic verses.

According to the report, 4.9 magnitude tremors were felt in Shangla, Swat, Kohistan, Dir, Chitral, and Peshawar while no damage was reported.

The epicenter was reported at Badakhshan Province in Afghanistan at a depth of 27 km with a magnitude of 4.9.

A magnitude 7.5 earthquake also shook Malakand and Hazara on October 16, 2016, killing 48 people and injuring 133 in Shangla.

Also, it may be recalled that on June 16 this year, tremors were also felt in the upper parts of the country, including the federal capital Islamabad and Peshawar, but no damage was reported.
