Pakistan Muslim League PML (N) has filed an application for the release of party president Shahbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shahbaz on parole.

According to the details, PML-N leader Ataullah Tarar’s application for parole was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner.

The petition has stated the release of Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz to attend the last rites of Begum Shamim Akhtar (Mother of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif) who passed away at the age of 94 in London on Sunday.

The petition also said that Shahbaz Sharif is the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and Hamza Shahbaz is the Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly and people from all over the country have come to offer their condolences. In view of this, two weeks of parole has been requested.

The news of her grandmother’s demise reached Maryam, who is also the PML-N vice president, while she was present at the 11-party opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) rally in Peshawar.

She left the venue after apologizing to the crowd for being unable to address the rally and requested party activists and supporters to pray for the departed soul and for the early recovery of her ailing father.

Condolences started pouring in as soon as the news of the former premier’s mother’s demise was reported.

Earlier in February, late Begum Shamim had departed for London to see her ailing son Nawaz Sharif.
