Pakistan Peoples Party PPP leader and former information minister, Qamar Zaman Kaira, has tested positive for coronavirus.

According to the details, Sindh Information Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah confirmed in a tweet that Qamar Zaman Kaira, has tested positive for coronavirus.

Shah said Kaira, who has been campaigning with party chairman Bilawal Zardari-Bhutto in Gilgit Baltistan for over two weeks, is a great “asset of the party” and prayed for his health.

Let it be known that several politicians have contracted coronavirus including ex-premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Musadik Malik, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, former chief minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and others.

Coronavirus in Pakistan

As per the details provided by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) 1,670 new cases of COVID-19 and nine more deaths were recorded across the country during the last 24 hours. The tally of deaths reached up to 6,977 in Pakistan, whereas, 318,881 patients recovered from the virus.

33,340 tests were conducted and the number of active cases of COVID-19 reached up to 18,981, whereas, the total count of infections is 344,839.

Actions against restaurants

In Karachi, the administration of District East took actions against seven restaurants for violating coronavirus standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Each restaurant has been fined Rs100,000 by the district administration. The actions were taken after raids conducted by a team due to violation of time limits set by the government.

The district administration said in a statement that the staff and customers were not wearing face masks.

World Coronavirus Situation

On the other hand, the United States became the first nation worldwide since the pandemic began to surpass 10 million coronavirus infections, as the third wave of the Covid-19 virus surges across the nation. The global coronavirus cases exceeded 50 million.
