COVID-19: Smart Lockdown Clamped in more Localities of Lahore

In a bid to prevent the COVID-19 spread, Punjab administration has placed 33 localities of Lahore under smart lockdown for 14 days.

According to the details, a smart lockdown in 33 neighborhoods of Lahore for two weeks due to a rise in COVID-19 cases.

The lockdown will be imposed in areas of Johar Town, Allama Iqbal Town, Canal Colony, Baghbanpura, Walton, DHA phase 1, 3, 5 and 8, Iqbal Town, Askari 8 and 10, Valencia Town, Samnabad and other areas.

Strict SOPs are to be implemented in these localities. Masks have been made mandatory. Businesses, except for kiryana and pharmaceutical stores, petrol pumps and stores selling chicken, meat, vegetables and fruit, will remain closed.

Only one person of the household can leave the house for buying food and medicines and has to show CNIC to the law enforcement officers. Pillion riding is banned.

The Government of Punjab on 19th December notified imposition of smart lockdown in  in 22 areas in Lahore, nine areas in Rawalpindi, four localities in Gujranwala, and three areas of Gujrat.

The health authorities earlier imposed smart lockdown in 13 areas of Lahore and declared the closure of the shopping malls, restaurants, and offices in areas under lockdown, whereas, movement of local residents was also restricted.

The health secretary had announced that only one person and a vehicle will be allowed to move at a time, whereas, a complete ban will be observed on all gatherings and events.
