Asif Nazar Butt aka DJ Butt, who was arrested on the charges of possessing an illegal weapon and interference in official work, has been granted bail by a court in Lahore.

According to the details, the court released him on bail against surety bonds worth Rs 50, 000.

During the hearing, DJ Butt maintained that the rifle was legally owned and he had a license for it. He also claimed to have been beaten and tortured by police in custody.

According to the FIR registered against DJ Butt, police raided his office in Model Town and filed a case for possessing an illegal weapons and interference in official work by manhandling the raiding team members.

The arrest came ahead of Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) December 13 public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore.

On the other hand, Vice President Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) will be holding rallies in Lahore as part of her mass mobilization campaign ahead of PDM Jalsa.

Security Agencies had already issued a threat alert for the opposition’s 11-party Pakistan Democratic Movement’s Sunday gathering.

Police warned that terrorists could target Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz and other top political leadership of the opposition parties during the rally.

The Opposition alliance has held several rallies in major Pakistani cities, including Gujranwala, Karachi, and then Quetta.
