ECP releases polling schedule for vacant seats in Sindh, Balochistan Assemblies

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday released the polling schedule for the three vacant seats in the Sindh and Balochistan Assemblies.

According to the Election Commission, Polling for the three vacant seats will take place on February 16, 2021.

ECP said that the nominations will be submitted on December 23. Whereas the papers will be examined on January 4, 2021. Appeals will be dealt with from January 6 to 14. The final list of candidates will be released on January 16, 2021.

ECP added that Election symbols will be released on January 17.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) last week decided to conduct by-elections in eight constituencies – including two national and six provincial assemblies – asking the provincial governments to ensure strict adherence to the SOPs.

Chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, the Commission directed the issuance of a schedule for the polls.

ECP members and officials and PPP senior leader Taj Haider attended the meeting.

Legal Adviser Murtaza Wahab and other representatives of the Sindh government attended the meeting via video link.

The Secretary ECP informed the meeting that by-elections were pending in eight constituencies across the country, including six provincial and two National Assembly seats.
