Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz said that guidance will be sought from the Supreme Court to elect senators through the show of hands to make the Senate elections transparent.

Talking to media after the cabinet meeting in Islamabad, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz said that allegations of horse-trading were made in the Senate elections.

He said that the Supreme Court had issued a brief order for transparency of elections, on the basis of which we had introduced a bill in the Assembly and today there was a debate on how to pass the bill, constitutional amendment, executive. By order or through the Election Commission.

“We have decided to seek guidance from the Supreme Court under Article 186 of the Constitution, for which we are seeking elections through a show of hands,” he said.

Shibli Faraz said that no government has paid attention to this before, although the government has the resources, no government does as we are doing.

“We want the Senate elections to be transparent and credible so that only people from different parties can come in,” he said.

“We hope that we will get guidance from the Supreme Court long before the Senate elections. If the assembly convenes, we will try to get it passed from there as it is in everyone’s interest,” he said.
