Maulana Fazl, other politicians have serious life threats says Sheikh Rashid

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that around 20 politicians, including Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, have serious life threats.

According to the details, while addressing media in Islamabad, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that some of these politicians have already survived of life attacks in past. He said Maulana Fazlur Rehman has been conveyed of this threat.

The Interior Minister also urged the opposition to stay away from mass gatherings in view of a spike in COVID cases.

He said the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia have called off their flight operation and in view of this, it is suggested that Pakistan should also stop its flights to and from London.

The Interior Minister expressed the belief that the opposition’s alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement will participate in Senate elections as parliament is the right forum to resolve issues.

Moreover, the Minister said a befitting response will be given to India if it goes for any misadventure. He said Pakistan wants peace, but it will never compromise on sovereignty.

Coronavirus in Pakistan

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan confirmed 458,968 cases of COVID-19 after the fresh inclusion of 1,792 infections in the past 24 hours. NCOC said that the coronavirus pandemic claimed 62 more lives last day bringing the national death tally to 9,392.

Moreover, 1,680 patients recovered from the virus during the last 24 hours and 2,403 patients are in critical condition including 38 new patients. The total count of active cases is 40,491 and the positivity rate is recorded up to 5.15 percent.

A total of 34,772 tests were conducted across the country during this period. Overall 409,085 people have recovered from the deadly disease so far while 6,336,113 samples have been tested thus far.
