Brunei High Commissioner to Pakistan, His Excellency Brigadier General (Retd) Dato Paduka Haji Mahmud bin Haji Saidin met with Pakistan Navy Chief Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi in Naval Headquarters on Friday.

According to the Spokesperson Pakistan Navy, two while discussing professional matters, agreed to further strengthen relations between the two brotherly countries, especially their naval forces.

The Naval Chief and the distinguished guest also discussed the security situation in the region and the promotion of bilateral maritime cooperation.

Pakistan Navy Chief Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi, in the previous week; held meetings with ambassadors of Japan and Egypt; H.E. Mr. Kuninori Matsuda and H.E. Mr. Tarek Mohamed Dahroug at the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad.

During the separate meetings, matters with respect to mutual interest, regional security, and bilateral collaboration were discussed.

Brunei Pakistan Relations

The diplomatic relationship between Pakistan and Brunei is warm and friendly, primarily because both are Muslim countries and members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

As the two countries are fellow members of the Commonwealth, Pakistan maintains a High Commission in Bandar Seri Begawan, and Brunei has a High Commission in Islamabad. To further foster ties between the two countries, the Brunei-Pakistan Friendship Association (BPFA) was created in 2008.

The current trade volume between the two countries stands at US$5 million. To foster trade and investment between the two countries, the Pakistan-Brunei Joint Investment Company was created in November 2006.
