Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has claimed that the government of PTI was responsible for the June 2020 petrol crisis in the country.

According to the details, the accountability court in Islamabad heard the LNG reference against former prime minister Shahid Khaqan and other accused. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Abdullah Khaqan, and other accused appeared in the court.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s lawyer Barrister Zafarullah did not appear as he was in quarantine. Due to his non-appearance, the hearing was adjourned till December 15.

Talking to the media after the hearing, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the previous NAB case against him had lasted for 9 years. Today is the PDM meeting in which the post-December 13 strategies will be worked out.

He said that “the parliamentary system cannot work unilaterally, June 2020 petroleum crisis were created by the government itself, we are not talking about power but about the flaws of the system.”

This government is the result of the 2018 elections. If history repeats itself in the next elections, the country will not move forward,s aid Abbasi.

According to the anti-graft body, a sum of $538,895 was transferred to Abbasi’s account in three installments from a Dubai-based bank. The agency revealed that the Emirates government provided it with evidence in this regard, adding that the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) also confirmed these transactions.

However, NAB added, the former prime minister, when confronted, was unable to give a satisfactory explanation as to these transactions. The records show that more than Rs637 million were transferred to the accounts of Abbasi and his son, Abdullah Abbasi.

On August 5, the former prime minister was indicted in the illegal Pakistan State Oil appointments case. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has been accused of illegally appointing Sheikh Imranul Haq as the managing director of PSO and Yaqoob Sattar as the deputy MD (finance) while he was serving as the minister of petroleum and natural resources from June 7, 2013, till July 28, 2017.
