Two tigers and two lions have been rescued from a house in Multan and handed to Punjab Wildlife Department.

The resident of Multan named Rizwan Mughal got the big cats imported. However, he didn’t hold the permit of keeping them at home and that too in cages.

Wildlife Department said that the African lions and Bengal tigers costed Rs 7 million in total. The house was raided by the department of wildlife when the neighbors complained about the roaring noises coming from the house.

The officer said, “The animals are currently in our custody and we will decide what to do with them,” the officer added.

As per the latest details the department of wildlife has decided to relocate the African lions and Bengal tigers to Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan Wildlife park.

Previously, police also rescued four monkeys who were illegally kept at Empress Market in Karachi’s Saddar.

Karachi’s South deputy commissioner and his team raided the market on Friday and found the animals caged at one of the shops. The monkeys were rescued and initially sent to the Sindh Wildlife Department’s sanctuary.

Moreover, they were moved to a private foundation for animal care operated by Ayesha Chundrigar.

Assistant commissioner of Saddar, Sherina Asad came forward and told that as per the Act of Sindh wildlife only people will license can keep the monkey at a private zoo otherwise caging monkeys is illegal.

However, the shopkeeper was neither charged nor arrested. Also, the vendors at Saddar’s Empress Market had sworn that they will not cage mammal.
