Pakistan has strongly condemned the horrifying twin blasts at a Baghdad market on Thursday, which killed 32 people and left at least 110 wounded.

In a statement, the Foreign Office said Pakistan conveys its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and pray for speedy recovery of those injured in these gruesome terrorist attacks.

The Foreign Office said that Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and stands in solidarity with the brotherly government and people of Iraq in their fight against terrorism.

It should be noted that two suicide blasts at a market in central Baghdad killed at least 32 people.

Military spokesman Yahya Rasool said two suicide bombers detonated their explosives after the security forces pursued them.

An interior ministry spokesman tweeted that the second bomber set off his device after people gathered around those dead and wounded from the first bombing.

Maj. Gen. Tahsin al-Khafaji, a Joint Operations Command spokesman, marked it a “terrorist act perpetrated by a sleeper cell of the Islamic State,” according to AP.

“This attack is a reprehensible act of cowardice that underscores the dangers of terrorism that millions of Iraqis continue to face,” the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad wrote in a statement.

“We extend our condolences to the families of these victims, and hope for the swift recovery for those who were injured.”
