Coronavirus: Pakistan records 64 deaths and 1910 cases in a single day

Pakistan recorded 64 more deaths due to the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours and 1910 new cases during this period.

According to the latest statistics by National Command Operation Center, 40821 tests were carried out during this period. 494,578 people have so far recovered from the disease.

After the fresh deaths reported, the national fatality toll has hit 11,514, whereas 539,387 is the total infection toll.

Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar has said that the coronavirus vaccination in Pakistan will start from next week.

In a recent tweet, Asad Umar said: “The system for vaccination is in place. Hundreds of vaccination centres in the country will be administering the covid vaccine. Inshallah, the vaccination of front line health workers will start next week.”

Moreover, the NCOC has made an integrated plan for the vaccination drive. This plan has been compiled by the federal government in consultation with all stakeholders and provinces keeping in view the best international practices and health guidelines.

Pakistan has so far approved three coronavirus vaccines — Russian-developed Sputnik V, the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine and the vaccine developed by Chinese state-owned firm Sinopharm.
