Key Militant Commander Mangal Bagh Killed In Afghanistan

Chief of a banned militant group  Lashkar-e-Islam Mangal Bagh who was blamed for violent attacks in a border region of Pakistan has been killed in southern Afghanistan, according to Afghan media reports.

Nangarhar Governor Ziaulhaq Amarkhil confirmed the deaths of three others, including Pakistani militant commander Mangal Bagh, according to Afghanistan’s Tolo News.

Nangarhar Governor Ziaulhaq Amarkhil wrote on his verified Twitter handle.“Mangal Bagh, the leader of Lashkar-e-Islam terrorist group, was killed along with two of his comrades in a roadside bomb blast in the Bandar Dara area of Achin district of Nangarhar this morning,”

The report said the deaths were caused by a roadside bomb in Achin District, Nangarhar. Governor Amarkhil says Mangal Bagh was responsible for a series of terrorist attacks in Afghanistan.

Lashkar-e-Islam leader Mangal Bagh hailed from Pakistan’s Khyber district. He has been based in Afghanistan for the past few years since the Pakistan Army launched Operation Zarb-e-Azb.
