The Sindh government has established a provincial vaccine coordination cell to finalize the arrangements to administer the Covid-19 vaccine across the province.

According to the details, the Government of Sindh Secretary Health Dr. Kazim Hussain has been appointed the head of the cell.

Provincial Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuho said the coronavirus vaccine will be given to Sindh by mid-January with the coordination of the National Vaccine Task Force and National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

At least 250,000 vaccine doses will be given to the province, she said, adding that every person will be administered two doses of the vaccine with a gap of 21 days.

In the first phase, vaccines will be administered to health professionals and frontline workers, performing duties in Covid-19 wards of public and private hospitals.

Coronavirus in Pakistan

Pakistan in past 24 hours, recorded 1,947 new cases of the novel coronavirus confirming the national tally to 490,476.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 59 more people died during this period, taking the death toll from the dread disease to 10,409.

A total of 35,073 samples were tested, out of which 1,947 turned out to be positive. The national positivity ratio of infections was recorded at 5.55 percent.
