Taxpayers Are Benefactors Of Pakistan Who Deserve A Tribute: PM

Prime Minister Imran Khan has termed the country’s taxpayers as deserving of tribute and said that they are benefactors of Pakistan.

The Prime Minister was briefed on tax reforms in Islamabad.

According to a statement issued from the Prime Minister’s House, the meeting was informed that tax collections have exceeded Rs 2,205 billion during the first half of the current financial year.

It was informed in the briefing that the tax collection system is being automated and taxpayers are being given incentives and facilities for paying taxes.

Officials said the new digital system has been automated to include transparency and reduce corruption and tax evasion.

He said that for small and medium enterprises, the tax form has been made smaller and simpler from 5 to just one page, reducing the number of entries from 200 to 24.

With regard to sales tax, the Prime Minister was informed that the amount collected from sales tax is also on the rise due to the direct connection of the company with the FBR system through the point of sale system.

The Prime Minister commended the Federal Ministers, Special Assistant Revenue and Chairman FBR as well as the authorities for reforming the system as a whole.

Imran Khan said that the taxpayers are the benefactors of Pakistan who deserve tribute.

He directed that such measures should be added in the system to make it more acceptable to the taxpayers.
