CM Punjab bans Jail Officers to keep personal servants, Buffalos

On the directions of Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar, the Inspectorate General of Prisons today ordered to clear Jail colonies from Buffalos / Cows kept by the officers.

According to the details, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has expressed displeasure over keeping personal servants and buffalos in the homes of Punjab jail officers.

However, today, as per the orders of Inspectorate General of Prisons Punjab it is directed to furnish a certificate that no Buffalos / Cows are in Jail colonies. Moreover, it is further directed to ensure that there should be no personal servants at the houses of Jail officials hired for private work.

Disciplinary proceedings will be initiated against those who violate the orders under PEEDA Act, 2012 (Amended) 2017.

In addition to this, the task has been assigned to special branch to verify the physical deployment of officials with officers in the light of certificates furnished by all the Superintendent Jails earlier and if any official found deployed outside the jail premises, then the Superintendent Jail will be held squarely responsible and will go through the accountability process.

Inspectorate General of Prisons has also ordered to all the Jail Superintendents to revisit in their own capacity and make sure that no employee is deployed with any official for private work.

All Superintendent of jails will submit a Certificate under their own signature that no prison official is deputed with any prison serving and retired official for personal reasons and all the buffalos / cows have been shifted out from jail colonies and at present no official is keeping them in colony, through fax or email or either inform via the provided WhatsApp number.
