Senate Elections: SHC declares Saifullah Abro ‘eligible,’ Rauf Siddiqui ‘ineligible’

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday declared PTI candidate Saifullah Abro eligible, whereas MQM leader Rauf Siddiqui ineligible to contest in for the upcoming Senate elections.

According to the details, Saifullah Abro and Rauf Siddiqui approached the Sindh High Court challenged election tribunal’s order declaring them ineligible for Senate technocrat seats.

Abro, in his plea, told the court in the hearing that the tribunal issued the verdict on his nomination papers without considering the “facts”.

The PTI leader maintained that he meets all the requirements required from a person willing to contest the Senate elections on a technocrat seat.

He urged the court to declare the tribunal’s ruling as illegal and allow him to contest the Senate elections.

Meanwhile, Rauf Siddiqui, whose papers were rejected by a returning officer, appealed to the court to overturn the decision and let him contest the senate polls.

However, during today’s proceedings Abro’s lawyer argued during the proceedings in the court, ‘The election tribunal has misinterpreted the national achievements.’

Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar said that the court should be convinced about the national achievements. To which the lawyer replied, “Apart of 13 projects, other schemes were also completed by my client in partnership.

Whereas Sindh High Court declared Rauf Siddiqui ineligible due to his academic qualifications.
