Pakistan COVID-19: Cases Once Again Exceeds 1000 Mark

Pakistan has recorded 63  more coronavirus-related deaths and 1519 new cases in the past 24 hours.

According to the latest statistics of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), with new reported deaths, the national tally has hit 13,076. NCOC said that the total count of active cases is 17,117.

In the past 24 hours, as many as 987 patients have recovered from the virus whereas 1,559 patients are still in critical condition.

According to NCOC, with the fresh inclusion of the infections in the country the national tally of cases now currently stands at 585,435.

A total of 40,473 tests were conducted across the country during this period. Overall 555,242 people have recovered from the deadly disease so far while 9,097,413 samples have been tested so far.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in his statement this week, said the global rise in coronavirus cases is disappointing but not surprising and urged countries not to relax measures to fight the disease.

He urged governments to continue testing, contact tracing, isolation, supported quarantine and quality care, and individuals to avoid crowds, practice physical distancing, hand hygiene, wear masks and ensure proper ventilation.
