The Election Commission of Pakistan on Thursday rejected the disqualification petition against Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat.

According to the details, a four-member commission headed by Punjab member conducted the hearing.

The ECP dismissed Muhammad Aslam’s petition as inadmissible. The petitioner took the position that Raja Basharat had given a false affidavit along with the nomination papers.

On which Punjab Member of ECP remarked that, “It took you three years to realize his affidavit is false?”

The petitioner Muhammad Aslam said that the unsigned affidavit is of no importance in the eyes of the law. He referred to the Supreme Court order of declaring the affidavit as an important component of nomination papers.
