Pakistan COVID-19 Update: Confirmed cases toll crosses 600,000 mark

The coronavirus of has claimed 23 more lives in Pakistan during the last 24 hours taking the national death tally to 13,430.

According to the National Dashboard, 2,701 fresh infections were reported in a single day after which the national tally of confirmed cases now stands at 600,198.

During the last 24 hours, as many as 1,573 patients have been recovered from the deadly virus. So far Pakistan has reported 568,065 since outbreak.

A total of 41,133 tests were conducted across the country during this period. According to National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) 9,402,639 samples have been tested thus far.

On the other hand, Permanent Representative to the United Nations Munir Akram in a tweet said that Pakistan has joined a new United Nations public advocacy campaign ‘Only Together’ which calls for coronavirus vaccines to be available to everyone and everywhere in order to contain the deadly pandemic.

He said that it is vital to control the pandemic for quick recovery of the virus-hit world economy.

As the president of the UN Economic and Social Council, Munir Akram also called for ensuring that all of UN peacekeepers receive the Covid vaccine “quickly and equitably”.
