The Higher Education Commission has asked all Vice-Chancellors and Rectors across the country to strictly ensure the verification of their educational documents to prevent Pakistanis going to work in the UAE from getting into any trouble.

HEC Assistant Director (Coordination) Sadaf Tahir in a letter to the heads of universities said that the UAE Federal National Council has passed a new draft law which outlines severe penalties for obtaining employment in public Germany and private companies or for any other purpose through using forged/fake degrees and education certificates.

Job seekers who use fake degrees to get a job in the UAE could face up to two years in prison and a fine of one million dirhams.

The reports suggest that in 2018 the Middle-Eastern country’s authorities have seized more than 143 forged degrees and certificates from foreign universities.

The Higher Education Commission directed the heads of the universities to strictly ensure the authenticity of the educational credentials to prevent Pakistani nationals going for employment in the UAE from getting into any trouble.
