Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday directed that the tax regime should be reformed and structured in such a way that facilitates businesses and help the economy to grow.

According to the details, Prime Minister Imran Khan was chairing a meeting regarding tax reforms in Islamabad.

The Prime Minister said the objective of tax reforms is to make tax code simple and plug existing loopholes in the system.

Imran Khan said the tax reforms are aimed at reducing discretionary powers of tax collectors and tax practitioners besides introducing automation to ensure transparency of tax system. The Prime Minister directed to especially focus on the issue of flying invoices.

Imran Khan in his earlier statement his foremost priority was to provide maximum relief to the poor segments of the society. Every effort should be made to lessen the burden of indirect taxes and provide relief to the people

He directed the government’s economic team to suggest out-of-box solutions for reducing the burden of indirect taxes and also to ensure the balance between the state revenue and expenditure.

The Prime Minister also directed that every single penny, being spent on unnecessary administrative expenditures, must be saved.
