The government of Punjab on Sunday made wearing face masks for people compulsory due to the significant rise in the coronavirus cases in the province.

According to the details, Special Minister to the Chief Minister Punjab on Information Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that, ‘Masks are mandatory now, anyone found violating the orders will be fined and sent to jail for six months.’

She said that final decision over the proposed plan by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) to place a complete ban on all wedding ceremonies in Punjab from April 5 till Eid will be taken in the meeting tomorrow.

According to NCOC, so far 6227 patients suffering from coronavirus have died in Punjab. In the last 24 hours, 39 patients of Coronavirus died in the province.

During the last 24 hours, 19377 tests of Corona were conducted in Punjab. Till now 3,755,082 tests have been conducted in the province.

On the other hand, according to latest statistics issued by National Command and Operation Center, 4,767 new positive cases have been reported in the country after conducting tests of 45,656 people. Whereas the death toll due to Covid-19 pandemic has now reached 14,215 while 595,929 patients stand recovered from the disease.
