Federal Minister for Planning and Special Initiatives Asad Umar on Sunday has once again appealed to the masses to implement the health protocols devised to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.

According to the details, Asad Umar, who is also the chief of the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) took to his Twitter handle and urging people to cooperate with administration in COVID-19 SOPs enforcement efforts.

He wrote:

Yesterday there were 3468 covid patients on critical care in Pakistan yesterday. This is the highest number since covid started. The need for strong enforcement of sop’s is vital. Please take precautions and cooperate with administration in their enforcement efforts

Asad Umar earlier questioned Britain’s decision to place four more nations, including Pakistan, on the “red list” of countries effective April 9.

The United Kingdom had said that the decision to add Bangladesh, Kenya, Pakistan and the Philippines to the list was based on advice from public health experts as well as scientific data.

Umar in his tweet wrote, “Every country has a right to take decisions to safeguard the health of their citizens. However, the recent decision by the UK government to add some countries, including Pakistan, on the ‘red list’ raises a legitimate question whether the choice of countries is based on science or foreign policy”.

It is worth mentioning here that under the new restrictions by the British authorities  that will come into force next week, passengers from Pakistan will be denied entry to the UK unless they are British or Irish nationals or have residency rights.
