The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet today to sight the Ramadan moon.

According to the details, the Committee will meet in Peshawar under the presidency of Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.

Provincial and District Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will also simultaneously meet in their respective areas.

This would be the first Ramadan moon sighting under the new chairman, Moulana Azad, who was appointed by the federal government in December last year, replacing Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman.

The new chairman in January had earlier said he would try his best to bring harmony in observing Ramazan and celebrating Eid in the country in the years to come.

It merits mentioning here that Special Representative of the Prime Minister on Religious Harmony Maulana Tahir Ashrafi on Sunday promised that the Eid-ul-Fitr festival would be observed on the same day throughout Pakistan this year.

Ashrafi said no mosque or madrassah would be closed during Ramadan, however, he urged all the believers to follow coronavirus safety measures to keep the pandemic at bay. “We will observe Eid and Ramadan across the country together,” he said.

Moreover, according to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the temperature will move up after 15 days of Ramadan, while gusty winds are also expected in the holy month.
