On Friday, the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) has placed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) on the list of banned organizations.

According to the details, the TLP has been given the 79th number on the list and has been banned from collecting any kind of donations. As per the NACTA officials, giving donations to the TLP will now be considered as terror financing.

The Interior Ministry has also written letters to the provincial chief secretaries to determine the assets of TLP.

Let it be known that the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Thursday also banned all kind of coverage of TLP.

PEMRA notified that instructions have been issued to all TV channels and FM radio stations in this regard.

PEMRA further stated that the Interior Ministry has banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan and under Section 27 of the PEMRA Regulation and Code of Conduct PEMRA Ordinance 2002, media coverage of banned outfits is prohibited.

Demonstrations erupted in major Pakistani cities and quickly turned violent after Saad Hussain Rizvi, the head of the TLP, was arrested on Monday this week.

A day before his arrest, on Sunday the TLP chief Saad Hussain Rizvi had threatened the government with protests if it did not expel France’s envoy to Islamabad over blasphemous caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

TLP Chief had called on the government to honor what he said was a commitment made to his party in February to expel the French envoy before April 20 over the publication in France of depictions of the Prophet (pbuh), which has enraged Muslims around the world.
