Opposition leader in the Senate Yousaf Raza Gillani has filed an intra-court appeal against the Islamabad High court’s decision regarding the election of Chairman Senate.

Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Justice Athar Minallah had rejected the plea of Yousaf Raza Gilani on which Gillani filed an intra-court appeal in the Islamabad High Court.

The Opposition leader in Senate has sought annulment of the single bench judgment.

Yousuf Raza Gillani maintained in the appeal that the decision of the presiding officer to reject 7 votes in the election of Chairman Senate should be declared ‘null and void’.

In a written decision, the court had declared the application for removal of Sadiq Sanjrani as inadmissible. The ruling said, ‘the court expects the supremacy of parliament to be ensured and parliamentary issues to be resolved within parliament.’
