Pakistan records 102 covid-19 deaths out of a population of 1 million

Asad Umar, head of the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), has said that Pakistan is one of the few countries with the lowest coronavirus death rates in the world, recorded at 102 deaths out of a population of 1 million.

In a statement released on the social networking site Twitter, Asad Umar, Federal Minister for Development, Reforms and Planning, compared the Covid-19 death toll with the deaths across the region.

Explaining the details, Asad Umar said that 1,037 out of 1 million deaths occurred in Iran, 326 in Nepal, 301 in India and 186 in Sri Lanka.

He added that 160 out of 1 million people died in Afghanistan, 113 in Bangladesh and 102 in Pakistan.

The head of the NCOC further said that it was made possible by timely decisions, hard work, cooperation of the people and the grace of God Almighty.

Asad Umar also said that the pandemic threat is not over, and to follow SOPs and get vaccinated.
