Sindh Tightens COVID Restrictions; Restaurants, Schools To remain Shut

The Sindh government has decided to reimpose COVID-related restrictions in the province from Monday onwards as the country recorded 1 million fresh Delta variant cases.

Amidst the COVID restrictions, shopping malls and markets in Sindh will be allowed to operate from 6 am till 6 pm. While, karyana stores, bakeries and pharmacies will be allowed to remain operational.

The provincial government has also decided that there would be a ban on marriage halls and other functions. It was also decided that shrines in the province will be closed.

The authorities have also decided that indoor and outdoor dining will be closed in restaurants. However, the eateries will only be permitted to conduct take-away and delivery facilities.

The provincial government has also decided that education centres will be closed across Sindh from Monday onwards, but exams will be held as per plan.

The decision came following a meeting of the provincial coronavirus task force chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah here on Friday (today).

CM Murad observed that the coronavirus situation in the provinces was distressing and warned that the situation could turn more serious after Eid-ul-Adha.

Health Secretary Kazim Jatoi told the briefing that 85% of the patients admitted in Sindh’s hospitals were not vaccinated.

Sindh Govt. Decides To Block Sims Of Unvaccinated People

The Sindh government has on Friday decided to propose Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) block SIMs of unvaccinated people amid a sharp rise in Coronavirus cases across Pakistan.

The decision to block sims was shared by the Spokesman for the Sindh government and Adviser to CM Sindh on Environment Murtaza Wahab from his Twitter handle.

He said that the provincial government would approach National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) and PTA to block SIMs of unvaccinated people.

Chief Minister Sindh has also said that the PTA would be approached through the federal government to send messages to users to get vaccinated and those not getting a jab in a week will face blocking of their SIMs.
