PM inaugurates Pakistan’s first ‘Smart Forest’ by planting tree

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday inaugurated Pakistan’s first smart forest by planting a sapling in Sheikhupura’s Rakh Jhok Forest.

“The launch of the tree planting campaign at Rakh Jhuk is a reflection of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Clean Green Vision,” a statement issued by the PM Office stated.

On the occasion, the premier was apprised regarding the importance of the forest which is a prime project of the Ravi Urban Development Authority.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed to make technology giant Huawei a smart partner in the project.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar was also present on the occasion.

Earlier, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib highlighting the importance of the project said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Pakistan’s first smart forest was an important milestone in terms of climate change.

In his tweet, Habib said that modern technology and sensors from Huawei will help monitor the growth and wildlife in the forest. He further stated that 10 million trees will be planted on an area of 24,000 kanals.

Prime Minister Imran Khan will also attend Punjab Education Convention 2021 in Lahore today.

The convention will highlight the steps being taken by the incumbent government over the last three years for the promotion of quality education.

During the stated period, the Punjab Education Department, with the cooperation of other departments, ensured wide-ranging reforms in the education sector including upgrading schools, introducing an integrated management system and e-transfers system.
