Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio is in Islamabad to hold talks with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on the latest developments in Afghanistan, announced the Foreign Office.

According to the FO, the two foreign ministers will exchange views on Afghanistan and focus on bilateral relations.

“Pakistan and Italy enjoy cordial relations, bilaterally as well as in the context of EU and multilateral fora. The two sides closely coordinate on the issue of the UN Security Council reforms. Italy is home to one of the largest Pakistani diasporas in Europe,” said the FO.

The ministry also shared that Foreign Minister Maio’s visit will add “further momentum to the close cooperation” that Rome and Islamabad have and strengthen mutual coordination on regional and international issues.
