Over 50% of Islamabad’s eligible population have taken both shots: Asad Umar

Federal Minister for Planning and Development and NCOC head Asad Umar said that 50% of Islamabad’s population who is eligible for the shot is fully vaccinated.

The minister said on Twitter, “Islamabad has become the first city in Pakistan to have at least 50% of its eligible population (15 years & older) fully vaccinated.”

“71% of Islamabad eligible population has received at least 1 dose. Need to see an acceleration of the second dose in other cities,” Asad Umar added.

Earlier Asad Umar said that Pakistan has administered at least one dose of anti-Covid jabs to 5 crore people while more than 2 crores are fully vaccinated.

The Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms said in a Tweet on Friday, “In the early days of the vaccination campaign we had set a daunting target of vaccinating 7 crore people by the end of this year. Happy to report that 5 crore people have now received at least 1 dose. More than 2 crore fully vaccinated. Inshallah will meet & surpass the target.”

Note that, during the last 24 hours, more than 3,000 new cases of coronavirus have been reported across the country and more than 50 patients have succumbed to the virus.

The National Command and Operation Center said that 58 patients died of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, after which the total number of deaths rose to 26,720.

The NCOC said that 3,153 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number in the country to 1,24,520.

The total number of patients recovering from the coronavirus in the country has reached 1,086,785.

According to the NCOC, 57,792 tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours and the positivity rate in the country stood at 5.45%, with 5,370 patients in 631 hospitals across the country in critical condition.

So far, 583,582 people in the country have been given one dose of the vaccine while 21,613,626 people have been given both doses of the vaccine.
