ISLAMABAD: In his much-anticipated address to the nation today, Prime Minister Imran Khan will announce the biggest relief package of the country’s history, claimed Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday.

“Remedying the sufferings of the people is Imran Khan’s first priority. He will go to any lengths to provide relief to the people,” the minister said in a Tweet.

According to Chaudhry, the relief package will prove to be a milestone in reducing the hardships of the people and making their lives easier.

“Alleviating the sufferings of the people is the priority of the premier and that he will go to any extent to provide relief to them,” insisted the minister.

Speaking to the media after the cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Chaudhry had said that around 53 per cent population of the country would benefit from this relief package.

“The Prime Minister will also take the nation into confidence over the economic situation of the country.”
According to the minister, the cabinet had approved promulgating Ehsaas Ordinance 2021 to help deserving families.

“The cabinet also discussed prices of essential items in Pakistan and the region, and it was observed that prices of essential goods are lower in Pakistan than in the regional countries like India, Afghanistan and Bangladesh,” Chaudhry had said.

Chaudhry had maintained that the government’s coalition partners had generously extended their support for the electoral reforms agenda.

Announcing that the cabinet also barred the government from land acquisition for housing societies, he said, “A committee, comprising the establishment, finance and the housing ministries, will be constituted to review the existing policy for allotment of plots to government employees.”

The cabinet had also rejected a summary to withdraw duty on the import of vintage cars, the minister had added.
