ISLAMABAD: The newly-promulgated legislation on the electronic voting machine (EVM) has been challenged in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday.

Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Athar Minallah declared the petition of the citizen incomplete and asked what provisions of the electronic voting machine legislation did the petitioner object to.

The petitioner replied that the electronic voting machine was a fraudulent scheme and the legislation should be declared null and void.

“Provisions of electronic voting machine legislation are unconstitutional?” the chief justice questioned.

The honourable judge expressed annoyance and gave remarks that such incomplete petitions should face penalties.
