ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday termed overseas Pakistanis a precious asset of the country.

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday called on Ayub Khan Afridi, PM’s aide on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development and discussed the issues pertaining to dual nationality with Spain and the issuance of visas to Pakistanis living abroad without Pakistan origin cards.

During the meeting, the premier also directed to make the Community Welfare Attaches’ system effective and efficient to ensure the welfare of Overseas Pakistanis.

Earlier, in a bid to make space for Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance Shaukat Tarin in the Senate, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Senator Ayub Afridi tendered his resignation in the upper house.

Senate Chairperson Sadiq Sanjarani has accepted the resignation.

Afridi has been an elected representative in the upper house of the Parliament for as many as six years.

Afridi said that the seat was entrusted to him by Prime Minister Imran Khan and he has no qualms in returning it, adding that he was directed to hold the seat till the joint session of the Parliament.

Later, Ayub Afridi assumed charge as Adviser to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (OPHRD).
