ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has said some anti-Pakistan social media accounts had launched a malicious campaign against Pakistan Army by changing their display with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s logo.

In a tweet, he said the accounts were earlier used to run campaign in favour of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and also targeted Pakistan Army.

The information minister said insha Allah, there could never be a difference between Prime Minister Imran Khan and the Pakistan Army as the prime minister believed that the institution guaranteed safety and security of the country.

He also shared old anti-PTI and anti-army tweets of the same accounts, which were faking PTI supporters.

On December 29, 2020, Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed had said that a case would be registered against Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) leader Mufti Kifayatullah over his anti-army statements.

Sheikh Rashid was referring to Mufti Kifayatullah’s statement which he gave in a TV program in which the JUI-F leader had passed provocative remarks against the national institutions.

“It has been decided to file a case against Mufti Kifayatullah in Lahore. His insolence against our great army is unbearable who has made exemplary sacrifices,” the interior minister said.
