ISLAMABAD: Governor Sindh Imran Ismail and Defense Minister Pervez Khattak on late Tuesday night paid a visit to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leaders in the Parliament Lodges and delivered a message from Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The development came after the announcement was made that joint opposition and MQM-P have reached an agreement.

While talking to the media Imran Ismail, Governor of Sindh, said he came to deliver Prime Minister Imran Khan’s message to MQM-P convener Dr Maqbool Siddiqui.

He stated that throughout the discussion, the government attempted to allay MQM-P concerns and that the government is willing to reach an arrangement with the former ally.

The Governor further said that the comprehensive meeting between the two parties will be held today (Wednesday).

In response to a question, Dr Imran Ismail stated, “I hope MQM-P makes the right decision.” adding that the MQM-P and the joint opposition accord were not discussed during the meeting.

Note that, in a major setback, the MQM-P has opted to abandon the ruling PTI and join the joint Opposition in opposing Prime Minister Imran Khan’s no-confidence vote.

With the MQM-P’s unexpected attack on Imran Khan before the no-confidence motion, the government is now supported by only 164 members of Parliament. Meanwhile, the unified Opposition has grown to 177 members.

After the ratification of the proposed agreement by the PPP CEC, MQM Pakistan Coordinating Committee, the details will be revealed before the media tomorrow at 4 pm.”
